Curate and Share
Community Book Gardens are sustained by local stewards who promote the flow of books and the routine of shared reading so that families begin to make books and reading a part of their everyday interactions. Stewards establish Book Stands in well-traveled public places, keep them stocked and refreshed with locally relevant books, and provide families with simple prompts that make shared reading easy to repeat.
Collective Impact
At its core, literacy must be a shared value. When schools, libraries, and other community organizations collaborate to support family literacy, true progress can be made toward reading proficiency for all students.
