Nebraska Growing Readers
Nebraska Growing Readers, led by Nebraska Children and Families Foundation (NCFF) and its Sixpence early childhood network, brought a dependable monthly book delivery model to families across urban and rural Nebraska.
Over the course of the initiative, more than 886,000 books reached nearly 38,000 children ages three to five. An independent evaluation found that participating families gained significantly greater access to books, children increased their daily reading time, and Sixpence Home Visitation families saw higher rates of meeting early language and literacy benchmarks. This project demonstrates that the right infrastructure can make early literacy support both consistent and far-reaching.
